[Beauty Review] Bifesta Water Based Makeup Remover

I've never realized the importance of removing makeup until my face getting more and more sensitive that I have to visit dermatologists. I understand that most of the women nowadays couldn't live without makeup and feel insecure - especially on those nights of glitz and glam. Despite the glow it affords our skin, if we do not remove makeup properly, the same saving grace can become your nemesis. Besides, skin is our largest organ and tends to expose to UV rays and pollutants on a daily basis which will destruct our skin tissue, hence it explains why do we have to use makeup remover even if we didn't put on any makeup.

Now, I bet most of you are well aware of the makeup remover brand, Bifesta, which was previously known as "Cleansing Express" in 2006. Bifesta is Japan's 1st drugstore water-based makeup remover and they are specialize in makeup removers only. As the name suggests, Bifesta embodies the meaning of "Beauty Festival", a celebration of beauty where beautiful skin can be achieved quickly, easily and joyfully with effective, fuss-free makeup remover.

So I'll start off by reviewing my favourite product, Bifesta Water Based Makeup Remover Cleansing Lotion (300ml @ RM34.90). There are four categories of cleansing lotion catered for different skin types, namely Enrich (Dry Skin), Moist (Normal to Dry Skin), Bright Up (Combination Skin) and Sebum (Oily Skin).

I'm currently using Moist makeup remover and I love how convenient is it especially when I come home late after a long day at work that I just want to remove my makeup quickly and go to bed. It is so easy to use that you just need to take a cotton disk, apply about three pushes on the nozzle per disk and wipe off gently until the cotton remains unsoiled.

The cleansing lotion contains adsorptive hyaluronic acid for translucent skin so it is recommended not to wash your face again with soap or any other cleansing product which will wash away the moisturizing ingredients. For waterproof and heavy eye makeup, Bifesta Water Based Eye Makeup Remover would be a better option as it contains oil after all.

Next up would be Bifesta Water Based Makeup Remover Cotton Wipes (46 sheets/276ml @ RM24.90). Similar to the cleansing lotion, it comes in two different type, Moist (Normal to Dry Skin) in pink and Bright Up (Combination Skin) in purple packaging.

Basically this cotton wipe works pretty the same as cleansing lotion - wipe off type and no need for a second wash. Take out one sheet at a time and use it on dry skin. One sheet of cotton wipe is large enough for full face coverage so you can refold the sheet to use the clean part and repeat this until the sheet remains unsoiled. I would say cotton wipes are definitely the best creation ever especially for traveler and I'm bringing this with me to Lombok trip next week!

Here comes the highlight as well as best selling product, Bifesta Water Based Eye Makeup Remover (145ml @ RM19.80). This eye makeup remover contains two types of moisturizing ingredients, Vitamin B and E derivatives, that are gentle on eyelashes and the eye area protect eyelashes and keep the skin moisturized.

The dual effects of the water based layer which contains skin lotion-derived cleansing ingredients and the oil based emollient layer removes waterproof mascara and eyeliner effortlessly yet thoroughly without rubbing or tugging.

Since there are dual effects of water and oil layer, shake the bottle well and ensure the water based and emollient layers are well mixed before apply it onto a cotton disk. Place the moistened cotton for about 10 to 15 seconds and wipe off gently. First wipe could remove most of my makeup hence there is no need for rubbing hard.

Previously I was kind of skeptical of water based makeup remover thinking whether it can remove my makeup properly. Furthermore, all of their makeup removers are wipe-off type and doesn't require second wash. I always have the thought that water based makeup remover could never beat oil based makeup remover but it has totally changed my mind! Oil based makeup remover leaves an uncomfortable oily residue and requires an additional step of cleansing but this single bottle just does all wonder!

I'm totally loving these makeup removers and it leaves my skin clean with toned and smooth effect. I'm so surprised because it helps to prevent breakouts as well and I get quite a number of compliments that my skin is getting better day by day. ;) I'm halfway through my first bottle and I'll definitely repurchase it! Kracie x The Butterfly Project

This year's Halloween was a bit more special, not the usual horror theme but a kawaii theme Kracie product launch with the Butterfly Project! How many of you have actually heard of the brand 'Kracie' or use it before? Kracie, which was formerly known as Kanebo, is one of the largest company in Japan with a wide range of products including toiletries & cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and even foods. And today we were introduced to their Ichikami hair care and Hadabisei skin care series.

The event was kick start with an introduction of the company and their products by Mr. Kojima, who specially came all the way from Japan and he's one funny guy!

We were first presented with their Ichikami hair care series which uses Japanese Botanical Essences to not only repair existing hair damage but prevent future damages as well. One of the main ingredients in Ichikami is rice bran where the Japanese in the past believed that the beauty of a lady is to have long and silky black hair and they realized using rice water can moisturize and protect their hair.

The Kracie team also did a little demonstration on hair styling featuring their Ichikami hair care series. They first apply hair treatment essence to protect the hair from heat damage, curl it, and lastly set the hair with styling gel and cologne to hold the curls longer. Her hair is now looking more healthy and smooth with perfect curls!

Next is about their Hadabisei face masks, which has a wide variety to choose from to suit different skin trouble needs (eg. brightening, dryness-induced wrinkle care, adult acne care).

This time Mr. Kojima decided to demonstrate on his own since we were all busy eating. We were also given two packs of sheet masks, All-in-1 Mask and Eye Zone Mask after the event and I'm totally loving it! The sheet mask is very soft and moisturizing, hence it can absorb into my skin quickly. (Y)

[Beauty Review] Bidanpo Mediental Botanic Garden Mask (ACAI-berry)

It's been a while since I last do a beauty review on mask. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I'm a mask junkie and million thanks to HiShop for sending this Bidanpo Mediental Botanic Garden Mask (ACAI-berry) over. Fermentation aesthetics "Bidanpo Mediental Healing Mask" is a brand of oriental medicine skin science born in "Hana Green Oriental Medical Clinic" of the oriental medicine skin specialist majored in Oriental Medicine of Kyung-Hee University.

Functions, direction to use and ingredients are all clearly stated at the back of the packaging. This Bidanpo Mediental Botanic Garden Mask (ACAI-berry) is a tone-up mask which mainly helps your skin to retain moisture and create a lively glow. It contains Fresh Euterpe Oleracea fruit extract nutrition and the youth of Vaccinium Angustifolium (blueberry) fruit extract. The natural cellulose tencel sheets are highly demotropic and easily fitted onto skin. They are helpful for intensive skin care and deliver the effects of enriched essence gently.

Direction of use:
1. After cleansing, even out skin using toner. Take the mask out of its package, unfold and place the sheet on the face.
2. Rest comfortably for 15-20 minutes and remove the mask.
3. Remove the mask, and let the skin absorb the remaining essence by gently patting the skin.

After applying this mask, I can see my skin is much more clearer and smooth like baby skin. Despite the thick texture of the mask, it has adequate essence and it's very moisturizing as if there's a layer of water on my skin. Surprisingly it doesn't make my skin feel sticky because usually most of the sheet masks I've used will leave sticky feeling due to the essence. I love how it foams up very easily and its creamy lather gently and thoroughly cleanses away trapped impurities and excess oil that can clog pores and lead to blackheads and breakouts. It does brighten my skin after using it however, I do feel very slightly (!) dryness too.

Step 3: Clarify
Tone, refine and purify with this Ginvera Marvel White Refining Toner (RM18.90 @ 150ml) in just 1 spray! Personally I love this spraying bottle because it's so convenient (perfect for lazy people like me :P) and it does refines and tightens pores, nourishes and softens skin. It also brightens and evens skin tone for an instant naturally flawless and luminous fair complexion.

Hold the bottle approximately 20cm from your face, close eyes, spray evenly on your face and gently tab for full absorption. It's easily absorbed into the skin however I can feel stickiness upon application.

Step 4: Moisture
The final step with Ginvera Marvel White Whitening Face Lotion (Rm25.90 @ 50ml) to achieve fair and flawless skin! It claimed to be whiten and rejuvenate skin regimen with effective natural whitening active ingredients. It's also rich in natural anti-inflammatory ingredients that relieve and soothe skin, keeps skin blemish-free with a healthy radiant glow.

Followed by Marvel Gel, it's my favourite product after all due to its non-sticky and non-greasy formula, it absorbed quickly into my skin and leaving my skin comfortably moisturized all day long!

One of the most affordable skincare range I've come across and it works perfectly fine on my skin too. I've been using Ginvera products since young because the formula is very mild and gentle on my skin (I'm combination skin type). It does not cause any irritation or breakouts to me, hence I've repurchased their products for few times already especially the Marvel Gel, my life savior for blackheads and whiteheads!
